Volunteering is like a beautiful flower

Imagine you plant the flower seed. And you start watering it. Then others come to help and soon the flower grows big, strong, and awe-inspiring. That is why I volunteer for Saco Main Street... because with everybody's help, beautiful things are happening in our town.

    It’s more than a sense of community…

It's more than a sense of community for me. It's a sense of contribution from myself who in turn can encourage others to do the same in a community that has a home-like atmosphere whether you are downtown or scattered in our beautiful historic neighborhoods.

    Giving back to the Community

I volunteer because it is a way to give back to my community. It’s a great feeling when we all share a common goal and support one another while working toward success. At the end of the day, volunteering just feels good knowing that I’ve made a difference.

Saco Main Street

There are a variety of ways you can help our downtown by volunteering with Saco Main Street.

If you have a long-term interest in shaping the future of our Main Street, you might best be suited to join one of our four committees:
Business Vitality, Design, Organization or Promotion.

At Saco Main Street, we have many glamorous opportunities for pitching in:

  • Help with mailings including fundraising efforts, assembling invoices, and making sure our address books are up-to-date.
  • Downtown beautification work including seasonal plantings, flags, and decorations.
  • Downtown building/business data-base entry and management.
  • Poster distribution and other deliveries that consist of a lovely walk about town.
  • Photography at local events, follow-up press releases, press images of the downtown in general and in every season.
  • Feats of strength and endurance including set up at events (tent, tables/chairs/etc), and other projects.
  • Snacks!  We often host events that require  sweets and savories and something to sip.
